A review of Sedbergh Club For Young People by Barrie Barraclough written on Monday 6th of November 2017
This club started me off in football. The former club leader, Jack Wheelhouse (bless his soul) asked me to start an under 12s team. Playing games in Bradford and spent valley.The lads got older, some left to play for other clubs. I was a regular in the touchdown pub in ideal. There were lads in there who thought they were good enough so the junior team became open age...Sedbergh Rovers were born. Played first league game in 1977.(I have a photo of that team).My time at the club....camping and hiking weekends in the dales. Midnight hikes over ilkley moors was a favourite for all. Then we took on the big ones. 3 peaks, the Luke wake walk across north York moors.(heartbeat country).The national boys clubs movement gave me more off outdoor activities. I look back, with very fond memoires.I only wish there had been photos taken.I will always remember my days at this club. A club which i.
