Situated among the picturesque rolling hills of West Yorkshire, the city of Bradford is one of the county's most important urban centres, as well as being known as one of its friendliest.
In terms of industry, the city made its name as a major textile producer in the past but has moved into other areas in more recent times: Bradford is home to many significant businesses such as Bradford & Bingley building society, Morrisons supermarkets and CIBA chemicals.
At present Bradford is in the process of major reconstruction in a variety of locations in the city, from new shopping centres and pedestrianised areas to roads and modern housing; in fact many of the city's disused mills from its industrial heyday are now being converted to new uses.
Due to its size and location, wherever you are in Bradford you are never more than a few miles from stunning scenery.
